Today we are introducing you to the very creative Squeak Unique……We chatted with Clair to find out more……
Tell us a little bit about yourself……
Well I am Clair robson. I am 31 yrs young and I run squeak unique with my fiancé Alex Vineberg who is 30 we live in Gateshead but work mostly in Rothbury.
How did SqueakUnique begin?
On deciding to get married I kept finding items that I would like for the wedding which were unusual. However with the unusual looks came a large price tag, most items Alex could already make on site using the equipment from his business Recognition Express, so set with the challenge from me he took to it producing some unique items for couples. Happy to say everyone liked them and the fact that we don’t charge the earth just because the word wedding has been mentioned!!
What sort of products do you make?
Currently we supply bespoke acrylic cake toppers, wooden peg cake toppers, photo frames, photo albums, guest books, favours, drink stirrers to name a few!

How did you come up with the name?
We have 2 very small children. Our daughter who is nearly 3 wanted a pet so we purchased a hamster which she decided had to be called parp squeak squeak! Much to our amusement when we were trying to name the wedding part of the business Amelia decided it was to be named Squeak, in reality we only added the name Unique to try to explain what we are doing.
Do you design and make the items yourself or source them from suppliers?
We design and produce items on site up in our main company site in Rothbury. Obviously we do source some products including the frames and albums in plain form and then add and enhance to our clients specifications. Our only real restrictions on laser engraved items is that we can only fit items less than 2″ x1″ into the laser
Where do you get your inspiration from for designs?
We carry our cameras everywhere we go, taking pictures of everything and anything, I also read a lot of blogs and wedding magazines to get more ideas.

What’s the most unusual design you’ve been asked to make?
A pumpkin shaped cake topper for a Halloween themed wedding is the most unusual request so far, however we have had enquiries for everything from personalised golf balls to rubber ducks! The possibilities are endless
What is your absolute favourite thing to do?
I love making the acrylic cake toppers as the possibilities are endless they look amazing with LED lights hidden behind the cake pointing up to the acrylic, these also have a point on for putting into the cake but for a small charge after the big day we can convert into a beautiful Christmas tree decoration to be enjoyed year after year.
Tell us something unusual about yourself.
Well I can dislocate and locate my shoulder at will and Alex is 6″4 and drives a teeny tiny smart roadster which he bought when I was 8 months pregnant with our first child (very amusing trying to squeeze in)
If this has whet your appetite then you can find Squeak Unique on Facebook and Twitter and the website which is coming soon.
