I found this great idea on Style Me Pretty……At first I did wonder at the point of flavoured sugar until I found out that it adds a lovely flavour to tea and can be used in cocktails too! This couldn’t be easier to make and what a great idea for inexpensive wedding favours. The recipe here is for sugar with mint or sugar with orange, lemon or lime.
I got some of these very jars from Ikea for just 99p each. Other supplies you will need are granulated sugar, oranges, lemons or limes and fresh mint leaves.
Use a zester to peel the rind from whichever fruit you are using. Then simply place it in the jar and layer your sugar on top. Secure the lid and let the sugar infuse. If making mint infused sugar simply repeat the process but with mint instead of the rind. *Be sure that the mint leaves are completely dry after rinsing them before layering them in the sugar.
