I stumbled across Modo via another wedding blog and just love their fab prints which make perfect keepsake gifts. I contacted them to find out more and this is what they said…..
Tell us a little bit about yourself
Emma and Andrew (husband and wife team) 35, from Haworth in Yorkshire. We design and make personalised prints, cards and gifts.
How did your business begin?
As a collection of scrawled ideas and colours at the back of a 2006 diary. We have always made things when our friends got married, had babies etc because we just could find anything personal and special on the high street. It made sense to explore the idea that we might do this more seriously!
How did you come up with the name?
The name was a quick 2 minute job. We took the first letter of all our names and made a word M (mummy) O (Oscar) D (daddy) O (Ollie)
Do you make bespoke designs?
Yes – that’s what we do best
What is your top wedding tip for couples?
Break a few rules here and there – weddings are expensive. Who says you can’t pop some buttercups in old jam jars.
Where do you get your inspiration from for designs?
Inspiration comes from the most unexpected places, we are always noticing colours and shapes. I guess our top of the list things at the moment are fun fairs, vintage books, brass bands, ice-creams vans and vintage signage.
What is your absolute favourite thing to do?
Emma – Spend time with my family
Andrew – go on holiday! (with family obviously)
Tell us something unusual about yourself.
Emma – I’m not a fan of chocolate (I know! I know!)
Andrew – Hmmm im not a very unusual person im afraid
What is the last book you read?
Emma – Call The Midwife
Andrew – A book about the history of London
What is the most unhealthy thing in your fridge at the moment?
Wine!
Who would play you in a movie?
Mummy and daddy pig heh heh heh
